July 28, 2025: CONGRATULATIONS to the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society on receiving the Rising Star Affiliate Leadership Award at the Region V Centennial Celebration of the National Bar Association Convention!
July 4, 2025: The Martinet Society extends its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the Honorable Charles R. Jones. Chief Judge Jones served on the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit from 1991 until December 2012. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Chief Judge Jones was a graduate of St. Augustine High School, Xavier University, and Loyola University of New Orleans School of Law. He served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1984 to 1991, until he commenced service as an Associate Judge in January 1992. He was a very proud member of the Rho Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Judge Jones believed deeply in investing in Black law students and attorneys. For example, current Martinet President Victor Jones earned his first legal job as an extent for the Judge in the Summer of 2011, as a 2L.
